Waiters Wanted In New Zealand

A busy restaurant in the heart of Tauranga is looking for an experienced waiter to join its front of house team. Pap House, known for its welcoming atmosphere and loyal local crowd, needs someone who can handle fast paced dinner services while keeping every guest happy. If you enjoy working with people, have at least one year of serving experience, and are comfortable with weekend and holiday shifts, this full time position offers steady hours and competitive pay. You will be the face of the restaurant, so a friendly attitude and attention to detail matter just as much as your technical skills. The role guarantees thirty or more hours per week on a rotating roster from Monday through Sunday.

About the Company

Pap House is operated by G and H Randhawa Limited, a hospitality group focused on delivering outstanding customer experiences in the Bay of Plenty region. Located in Tauranga, this establishment has built a reputation for good food, efficient service, and a team oriented work environment. They take pride in creating a space where both staff and guests feel valued.

Key Responsibilities

Arranging table settings including cutlery, glassware, and linens before each shift begins. Greeting and seating customers in a friendly and professional manner as soon as they walk in. Providing guests with food and beverage menus and offering knowledgeable recommendations based on what is fresh or popular that day. Taking orders accurately and communicating them effectively to the kitchen and bar staff without errors. Serving food and beverages to tables promptly while checking back to ensure everything meets expectations. Removing empty bottles and glasses and replenishing drinks according to customer needs. Handling cash and card payments efficiently through the POS cash register system and eftpos machine. Clearing tables after guests leave, returning dishes and cutlery to the kitchen, and resetting tables for the next group.

Qualifications

At least one year of relevant work experience as a waiter or server in a restaurant setting. Alternatively a relevant NZQF level 2 or 3 qualification in hospitality may substitute for some experience. Solid knowledge of food and beverage pairing so you can confidently recommend wine or beer with meals. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and through the Christmas and New Year period. Understanding of New Zealand laws around the sale and supply of alcohol in licensed premises. You must be able to pass a pre employment alcohol and drug test plus a background check. After hiring, random or post incident testing may also occur.

Benefits and Perks

This is a full time permanent position with guaranteed weekly hours. Hourly pay ranges from twenty four to twenty six New Zealand dollars depending on your skills and prior experience. You will work on a rotating roster that includes weekends and holidays, but the team makes sure shifts are shared fairly. The restaurant closes on some major holidays, giving you a few well earned breaks throughout the year. Staff meals are provided during long shifts, and you will gain valuable experience in a high volume dining environment.
