Driver Wanted In Madison Japan

We are seeking a dedicated Community Transit Driver to join our Madison team. In this role, you aren’t just navigating routes; you are a lifeline for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and rural residents who depend on us to stay connected. Whether you are behind the wheel of a mini-van, a Ford Transit, or a wide-body bus, your presence ensures our riders travel with the dignity and safety they deserve. If you have a “can-do” attitude and a passion for helping others, your journey toward a rewarding career starts here.

Company Overview

OATS Transit is a proud non-profit organization dedicated to providing reliable transportation services across Missouri. For decades, we have been the gold standard for rural and specialized transit, ensuring that no member of our community is left behind. We value our drivers as the face of our organization, fostering a culture of independence, respect, and professional growth. By joining OATS, you become part of a stable, supportive network that prioritizes the well-being of its employees just as much as the passengers we serve.

Key Responsibilities

As an OATS Transit Driver, you are responsible for the safety and comfort of your passengers and the peak performance of your vehicle. Your daily mission includes:

  •  Treating every rider with respect and providing essential assistance to help them safely board and exit the vehicle.
  •  Expertly securing wheelchairs and other mobility devices according to strict safety procedures.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and mechanical integrity of your assigned vehicle through diligent pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Utilizing an in-vehicle tablet to manage trip data, validate pick-up/drop-off times, and receive real-time route updates.
  • Adhering to all Missouri DOT regulations and company policies to ensure a safe transit environment.
  • Participating in routine paid training sessions to keep your skills and safety knowledge up to date.

Qualifications

We are looking for organized, independent professionals who are ready to make a local impact. To qualify for 2026, you must possess:

  • Licensing: A valid Class E or CDL license with a clean driving record (no more than 4 points assessed).
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Physical Readiness: Ability to handle an active workday involving lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and securing equipment.
  • Tech Savvy: Basic computer or tablet experience is highly preferred for managing daily digital logs.
  • Integrity: Ability to pass a U.S. DOT physical, road test, and drug-alcohol screenings.
  • Soft Skills: A proactive, helpful personality with the flexibility to adapt to changing routes and schedules.
