Dykeland Lodge, a home-like long-term care facility located in beautiful Windsor, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Casual Housekeeper-Laundry (Environmental Service Worker) to join our dedicated team. We are committed to adding life to years by providing quality, compassionate, resident-centered care delivered by a competent and valued team. In this role, you’ll perform duties related to maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, as well as ensuring clean, healthy linen for our residents. Key Responsibilities

As an Environmental Service Worker, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.

  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility.
  • Handle laundry tasks to ensure clean, healthy, and sanitary linen for residents.
  • Use cleaning equipment safely and effectively, following established procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the organization.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, in English with residents, families, and co-workers.
  • Work with minimum supervision, taking initiative to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrate proper body mechanics to ensure safety for yourself and others.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for candidates with the right skills, attitude, and commitment to resident-centered care.

Considered an Asset:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry.
  • Experience in long-term care or a similar setting.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment.
  • Enjoy working with seniors.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Reliable with good attendance and a cheerful disposition.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.
  • Respectful and hardworking team player.
  • Demonstration of proper body mechanics.
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 3 months is required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or have proper documentation that allows employment in Canada (Canadian Residency or Citizenship).

Limited Recruitment Initiative – Pay Incentives

Housekeeping Department will have an immediate pay increase to $18.77 per hour after completing in-house orientation hours.

Additional Incentive:

  • Weekend Shift Premium of an additional $2.35-hour for shifts worked on weekends.
