Dykeland Lodge, a home-like long-term care facility located in beautiful Windsor, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Casual Housekeeper-Laundry (Environmental Service Worker) to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities
As an Environmental Service Worker, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility.
- Handle laundry tasks to ensure clean, healthy, and sanitary linen for residents.
- Use cleaning equipment safely and effectively, following established procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the organization.
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, in English with residents, families, and co-workers.
- Work with minimum supervision, taking initiative to complete tasks efficiently.
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics to ensure safety for yourself and others.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications and Experience
We’re looking for candidates with the right skills, attitude, and commitment to resident-centered care.
Considered an Asset:
- Previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry.
- Experience in long-term care or a similar setting.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment.
- Enjoy working with seniors.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
- Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Reliable with good attendance and a cheerful disposition.
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimum supervision.
- Respectful and hardworking team player.
- Demonstration of proper body mechanics.
- Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 3 months is required.
Essential Requirements:
- Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or have proper documentation that allows employment in Canada (Canadian Residency or Citizenship).
Limited Recruitment Initiative – Pay Incentives
Housekeeping Department will have an immediate pay increase to $18.77 per hour after completing in-house orientation hours.
Additional Incentive:
- Weekend Shift Premium of an additional $2.35-hour for shifts worked on weekends.
