Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineer’s print drawings and specifications to assemble and weld components accurately.
  • Perform structural welding to industry standards, ensuring every weld meets requirements for strength and durability.
  • Set up your welding equipment properly adjusting current, amperage, and gas flows to the settings specified for each job.
  • Select the correct electrode types, set tips, and make all necessary adjustments to achieve proper penetration, fusion, and strength.
  • Work closely with the Shop Foreman and follow directions to keep projects moving smoothly and efficiently.
  • Inspect your own work to ensure it meets quality standards before moving to the next stage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
  • Take on other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman, contributing to the overall success of the shop.

Qualifications

  • You have solid experience as a welder, with a strong understanding of structural welding techniques and industry standards.
  • You’re comfortable reading and working from engineer’s print drawings and specifications.
  • You know how to set up your equipment correctly current, amperage, gas flows, electrode selection to get the job done right.
  • You understand the importance of proper penetration, fusion, and strength in every weld you make.
  • You’re reliable, punctual, and take pride in your craftsmanship.
  • You work well as part of a team, taking direction from the Shop Foreman and collaborating with other shop staff.
