Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineer’s print drawings and specifications to assemble and weld components accurately.
- Perform structural welding to industry standards, ensuring every weld meets requirements for strength and durability.
- Set up your welding equipment properly adjusting current, amperage, and gas flows to the settings specified for each job.
- Select the correct electrode types, set tips, and make all necessary adjustments to achieve proper penetration, fusion, and strength.
- Work closely with the Shop Foreman and follow directions to keep projects moving smoothly and efficiently.
- Inspect your own work to ensure it meets quality standards before moving to the next stage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
- Take on other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman, contributing to the overall success of the shop.
Qualifications
- You have solid experience as a welder, with a strong understanding of structural welding techniques and industry standards.
- You’re comfortable reading and working from engineer’s print drawings and specifications.
- You know how to set up your equipment correctly current, amperage, gas flows, electrode selection to get the job done right.
- You understand the importance of proper penetration, fusion, and strength in every weld you make.
- You’re reliable, punctual, and take pride in your craftsmanship.
- You work well as part of a team, taking direction from the Shop Foreman and collaborating with other shop staff.
- You’re committed to working safely and maintaining a tidy, organized workspace.
- You’re physically capable of performing the duties of the role in a shop environment.
