Key Responsibilities

  • Begin each shift at 6:00am at the Kenmore Delivery Centre by sorting mail and small parcels alongside your teammates in preparation for the day’s delivery runs, working accurately and efficiently to ensure every item is correctly sorted and ready for loading before departure
  • Complete a thorough daily vehicle safety check on your assigned motorcycle or Electric Delivery Vehicle before leaving the facility each morning, confirming the vehicle is roadworthy, safe, and fully prepared for the route ahead
  • Load your vehicle accurately and efficiently with your full allocation of deliveries for the day, organizing mail and parcels in a logical sequence that supports smooth and efficient progression through your assigned delivery route
  • Deliver mail and parcels to homes and businesses across your designated area in all weather conditions throughout the Brisbane seasons, maintaining a professional, friendly, and reliable presence in the community on every run you complete
  • Operate your motorcycle or Electric Delivery Vehicle with confidence, skill, and full compliance with all Queensland road rules, Australia Post driving and riding policies, and all applicable workplace health and safety requirements throughout every shift
  • Engage actively and openly with the Rider Mentor program during your onboarding and training period, working alongside experienced Posties who are genuinely committed to supporting your development and building your confidence and capability on the road
  • Maintain flexibility around finishing times and willingness to work additional hours when required, supporting the team and the delivery operation during peak periods or when workload demands extend beyond the standard daily schedule
  • Be open and willing to transition to training and delivery on an Electric Delivery Vehicle if business requirements change in the future, understanding that Australia Post is evolving its fleet and all Posties need to be adaptable to both modes of delivery

Qualifications

What Australia Post is Looking For:

  • A current and valid full or probationary Queensland motorcycle licence is an essential requirement, and applicants must currently ride a geared motorcycle regularly, confidently, and with demonstrated competence before applying for this position
  • Successful completion of Australia Post’s mandatory and practical motorcycle assessment conducted as part of the employment and onboarding process is required before commencing independent deliveries
  • A good memory, strong hand and eye coordination, and excellent personal attention to detail, particularly during the morning mail sorting process where accuracy in identifying and separating items by route and address is critical to delivery efficiency
  • Physical fitness and genuine enjoyment of active work both indoors during sorting and outdoors during deliveries, with the ability to regularly lift and carry mail and parcels weighing up to 16 kilograms throughout each shift
  • Must meet Australia Post’s safe working vehicle load limit of weighing under 100 kilograms when fully clothed including helmet, in accordance with the operational specifications of the delivery motorcycle
  • Flexibility around finishing times and a genuine willingness to work additional hours when the delivery workload or operational needs of the Kenmore facility require it
  • Openness to transitioning to Electric Delivery Vehicle training and delivery if Australia Post’s business requirements change, demonstrating the adaptability that the organisation’s evolving delivery model will increasingly require of its Postie workforce
