The Salvation Army Midland Division is seeking a Summer Sweet Shop Office Assistant at Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, Missouri. Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Safe From Harm guidelines and embody The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
  • Set up, maintain, and close program locations, including the Sweet Shop.
  • Deliver program supplies as needed and ensure proper storage after use.
  • Assist with program leadership and supervise staff activities in the Sweet Shop.
  • Manage camper Sweet Shop accounts, including collecting funds and securing them in the safe.
  • Inventory supplies daily and report needed items to the Director of Youth Services (DYS).
  • Prepare and distribute camper refunds at the end of each camp session.
  • Clean and secure the Sweet Shop after each free time, including cleaning machines, restocking shelves, mopping, and locking doors.
  • Report staff or maintenance issues to the DYS.
  • Participate in meals, meetings, and camp programs as directed.
  • Provide guidance and spiritual direction to campers as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and positive work atmosphere with campers, co-workers, and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working with youth or in community programs is desirable.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to youth and maintain professional interactions with staff.
  • Valid driver’s license; E license and TSA MVR clearance are a plus.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross is required.
  • Physically able to lift 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally, and move larger items with equipment.
