Pipe Layer – Labourer Wanted In Australia

A leading national service provider in Australia’s essential services networks is seeking a skilled Pipelayer, Operator, and Labourer to join their Temporary Water Supplies crew based in Clayton South. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the water and sewer industry, contributing to the installation and maintenance of temporary water supplies for customers before, during, and after water main renewal works. You will be responsible for measuring and configuring pipe routes, installing temporary water supplies, operating a skidsteer, and ensuring all properties have a clean and stable supply of water throughout the renewal process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure and configure pipe routes, gathering materials and installation tools for temporary water supply works.
  • Install and lay temporary water supplies, connecting all properties to ensure a suitable, clean, and stable supply of water for the duration of the renewal works.
  • Perform continual monitoring and maintenance of temporary supplies as required.
  • Remove all temporary supplies upon completion of the renewal works.
  • Operate a skidsteer safely and efficiently to complete assigned tasks, following all safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the skidsteer to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Load and unload materials using the skidsteer, ensuring proper weight distribution and safe handling.
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of equipment at job sites.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations and project completion.
  • Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or potential safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

Prior experience as an Operator, Pipelayer, or Labourer within the utilities or civil construction sector is essential. A relevant trade qualification is preferable. A Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction or equivalent is preferable. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws is required. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential. Strong knowledge of skidsteer operations, maintenance, and safety procedures is required. The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications is essential. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions are required. The ability to deal diligently, patiently, and professionally with stakeholders, clients, sub contractors, and suppliers is important. Initiative, the ability to determine own priorities and manage work accordingly, and analytical skills to identify areas for process improvement are required. Three or more years of experience within the Infrastructure Construction industry or similar industry experience is required. Previous industry experience within utilities, water, gas, or power is required. Specialist experience in the provision of civil services discipline is required.
