TV Man’ is looking for a full-time Installation Technician to join our Hamilton-based team, serving customers across the Central Waikato. This is a role for someone who takes genuine pride in clean cable management, crystal-clear reception, and the look on a customer’s face when their new system springs to life. If you’re tech-savvy, enjoy working independently, and believe that good service is just as important as good signal strength, we should talk.
Company Overview
TV Man’ has been a trusted local name in Waikato home entertainment for years. We’re not a big box chain or a faceless call centre—we’re a team of real people who actually care whether our customers can work their remote controls. We specialise in television installation, home theatre setup, smart home integration, and aerial and satellite solutions. Our reputation is built on showing up when we say we will, doing the job right the first time, and never making a customer feel silly for asking questions. It’s simple stuff, but you’d be surprised how rare it is.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be out in the community every day, bringing technology to life in Kiwi homes and businesses.
- Visit customer premises across Hamilton and the Waikato to professionally install and configure televisions, sound bars, home theatre systems, and smart home devices
- Mount TVs securely on everything from plasterboard to brick, hiding cables where possible and ensuring every installation looks as good as it performs
- Install, align, and tune UHF aerials and satellite dishes to deliver crystal-clear free-to-air and Sky TV reception
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the spot no matter who installed the original system—and explain solutions in plain English
- Take the time to show customers how their new equipment works, ensuring they feel confident before you leave
- Maintain your company vehicle, tools, and workspace to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation
- Keep learning. Technology changes fast, and we support you in staying ahead of it
Qualifications
We’re looking for a technician who combines solid technical skills with genuine people skills.
You must have:
- Proven experience as a television or home entertainment installation technician, with a strong working knowledge of modern AV systems and smart home technology
- Excellent problem-solving ability and the confidence to work independently, diagnosing and resolving issues without hand-holding
- A valid, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
- The legal right to work in New Zealand
- A genuine commitment to high-quality workmanship you notice when a cable isn’t quite straight, and it bothers you until it’s fixed
- A friendly, patient approach to customer service. You can explain the difference between HDMI ARC and optical audio without making anyone feel overwhelmed
It’s a bonus if you have:
- A working at heights qualification or experience with ladder work on roofs
- Knowledge of networking and Wi-Fi optimisation for streaming
- Familiarity with Control4, Google Home, or other smart home ecosystems
Benefits and Perks
TV Man’ believes that if you look after your team, your team will look after your customers.
- Competitive Pay: $28 – $30 per hour for a permanent, full-time role
- Fully Equipped: A company vehicle with a fuel card, plus a work phone and all the tools you need to do the job right
- Ongoing Training: We invest in your development with regular product training and industry updates no dead-end skills here
- Variety Every Day: No two homes are the same. You’ll work on everything from budget sound bars to full 4K home cinemas
- Local, Not Corporate: Join a small, supportive team where your name is known and your contribution is genuinely valued
- Customer Satisfaction: The rare kind of role where you get to make people genuinely happy, multiple times a day
