Field Support Technician Required In New Zealand

About the Role

This is a unique hybrid role supporting our customers both remotely from our Auckland office and on-site when needed—acting as a brand ambassador, technical problem-solver, and customer relationship builder. It’s designed to resolve complex technical scenarios and elevate customer confidence with our premium products.

This is a dynamic, hands-on technical role combining:

  • Field-based technical support
  • On-site diagnostics and commissioning
  • Installation inspections and spare part replacement
  • Workshop-based repairs
  • Technical phone support
  • On-site product and installation training

You’ll work across domestic heat pumps, dehumidifiers, ventilation, and refrigeration products, with some involvement in commercial (H)VRF systems where required.

You’ll represent BDT in the field, working both independently and alongside our national support team, delivering prompt, professional, and solutions-focused service every time. Some national travel will be required, including being away overnight.

This is a senior technical role where your expertise, professionalism, and judgement will be trusted in high-value service environments. You will work closely with installers, service partners, and internal teams to deliver practical, solutions-focused outcomes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Current and up-to-date Limited Electrical Registration (E.S.T or Full Registration) this is essential.
  • Strong practical fault-finding and technical diagnostic skills you can figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it.
  • HVAC and-or Refrigeration trade qualifications highly desirable.
  • Clean, full NZ driver licence you’ll be traveling nationwide.
  • Experience providing technical advice and explaining complex concepts clearly you can talk to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills you know how to manage your day and get things done.
  • Strong and confident communication skills you present yourself professionally in every interaction.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision you’re trusted to get on with the job.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide including overnight stays when required.
  • Able to balance technical accuracy with practical outcomes you know that the right solution also needs to be workable.
