AAR Corp. is seeking an experienced F-16 Avionics – Electrical Technician to join our team at Misawa Air Base in Japan. In this role, you’ll perform depot-level modification, upgrade, and testing of aircraft sub-systems, ensuring airworthiness for critical missions. If you have a background in avionics or electrical systems particularly on fighter aircraft and are ready to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment, this is an opportunity to apply your expertise while supporting U.S. Government operations overseas. Due to security requirements, U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance are required.

Key Responsibilities
- Modify, upgrade, inspect, test, adjust, and repair aircraft avionic and electrical systems, including radar, radio, navigation, and power systems.
- Use hand tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers to assess system performance.
- Inspect components for defects like loose connections and frayed wires, and verify accuracy of assembly and installation.
- Test avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and technical documents.
- Calibrate installed, modified, or repaired systems to prescribed specifications when required.
- Operate ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and airworthiness of avionic and electrical systems.
- Assist in fabricating wiring harnesses as needed.
- Accurately document all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records.
- Interact effectively with program and customer representatives, as well as on-site business and military personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support mission success.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience (must meet one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of recent specialized related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
- Associate’s degree, A and P license, FCC license, or 7 Level in F-16 Avionics or Environmental and Electrical Craftsman plus 4 years of recent specialized related experience.
- High School Diploma plus 8 years of recent specialized related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- F-16 experience is strongly preferred, but other fighter jet experience may be considered.
- 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
- Due to the Secret Clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to meet position requirements.
- Candidates must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed.
