Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily vineyard tasks including canopy management, irrigation checks, vine nutrition monitoring, pest and disease surveillance, and supervising contract labour.
- Operate vineyard machinery, with full training provided to ensure safe and effective use.
- Collect and record vineyard data accurately, supporting informed decision‑making throughout the growing season.
- Assist with crop estimation and monitoring, gaining insight into yield and quality.
- Support sustainability and soil health initiatives, contributing to the vineyard’s long‑term vitality.
- Participate in harvest support and vintage preparation, experiencing the full cycle of the growing year.
- Maintain a tidy and safe vineyard environment, upholding high standards of organisation and safety.
Qualifications
A degree or diploma in Viticulture, Horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience, is required. A strong interest in grape growing, wine production, and the Martinborough region is essential. Candidates should have a practical mindset and a willingness to work outdoors in all conditions. Good attention to detail, a positive, proactive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key. A full New Zealand driver’s licence is preferred.
