Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive range of site maintenance activities, either supporting others or working independently to achieve pre-established outcomes.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs, responding quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance inspections according to schedule, identifying potential issues before they become problems.
  • Provide operational support services across the site, ensuring all equipment functions safely and efficiently.
  • Act as first-line supervisor for a transactional operations area, overseeing routine work and using existing systems and protocols to guide daily activities.
  • Supervise a team performing routine maintenance work, providing direction, support, and technical guidance as needed.
  • Design your own monthly schedule, and when necessary, assign work to others to speed up workflow and ensure high-priority tasks are completed on time.
  • Manage and apply safe systems of work without supervision, and provide technical guidance to others on safety procedures.
  • Develop, monitor, and interpret policies and procedures, ensuring they align with organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Create clear, relevant, and effective reports as required, communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following:

  • High School diploma or Further Education College qualification (2 A Levels or equivalent).
  • Japanese communication capability in business and maintenance technical contexts is a MUST—you’ll need to communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and stakeholders in Japanese.
  • Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures and systems within an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Basic experience coordinating the work of others, whether as a formal supervisor or an informal team lead.
  • Ability to work without supervision and provide technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing, and overseeing activities to meet business objectives efficiently.
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and interpreting policies and procedures, ensuring they match organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to express ideas, request actions, and formulate plans or policies without supervision.
  • Ability to work with guidance (but not constant supervision) to develop appropriate plans and perform necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.
  • Skill in reviewing and creating relevant, lucid, and effective reports.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to manage and apply safe systems of work without supervision and provide technical guidance to others.
