Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pressure vessel repairs and general boiler maintenance following ASME and NBIC standards ensuring all work meets code requirements for safety and reliability.
  • Complete detailed service reports at each job site obtaining customer signatures before departure and submitting paperwork to the office in a timely manner.
  • Participate in factory training programs for boiler pressure vessel welders to expand technical knowledge and maintain current certifications.
  • Assist in providing 24 hour emergency service by participating in the on call rotation schedule as required.
  • Conduct hydrostatic pressure testing of boilers and perform inspections to identify potential issues such as tube leakage, scaling, pitting, metal discoloration, and refractory failures.
  • Repair and replace refractory materials, gaskets, parts, and miscellaneous controls as needed to restore equipment to proper working condition.
  • Perform pipe fitting work according to ASME, state, and local codes while reading and interpreting mechanical drawings for equipment modifications and installations.
  • Maintain company truck, tools, equipment, and supplies ensuring all resources are properly accounted for and in good working condition.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with two years of technical school, community college, or trade school education in a related field. Candidates must hold a valid 6G welding certification and have at least three years of related experience in the boiler, welding, or industrial maintenance industry. Experience with pipe fitting is a strong plus. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A solid understanding of basic mathematics, algebra, and formula knowledge is required for accurate measurements and calculations. The ability to read mechanical drawings and understand ASME code requirements is essential.
