Key Responsibilities
As a School Bus Driver, you are entrusted with the safety and well-being of our students. Your performance responsibilities will include:
- Safely transporting students to and from school and extracurricular activities on time, following all established routes and procedures.
- Managing student behavior on the bus calmly and effectively to maintain a safe, respectful environment for everyone.
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily, logging any issues, and reporting mechanical problems promptly.
- Maintaining accurate route data and student information as required by state and district regulations.
- Upholding the strictest confidentiality regarding student discipline and medical records.
- Communicating positively and constructively with parents, school administration, and fellow staff members.
- Attending all required training sessions and in-services to maintain certification and skills.
Qualifications
We are looking for reliable individuals who meet the following requirements and embody our district’s values:
- A current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a School Bus Permit.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- The ability to successfully complete the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education driver’s course and any required ongoing recertification training.
- A genuine willingness to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- An unyielding commitment to teamwork, safety, and putting students’ needs first.
- The physical ability to perform the job, including occasionally lifting or assisting with items up to 50 pounds.
- Experience working with special education or high-needs students is a valuable asset.
