The Napier District Masonic Trust has been assisting the aged in our community for the past 60 years, providing quality residential aged care and affordable retirement village accommodation. We are seeking experienced Support Assistants to join our Taradale and Elmwood aged care facilities on a casual basis. We have shifts available as Kitchen Assistants, Cleaners, and Laundry Assistants. You can work in one role or get trained in all three. The annual salary ranges from $30,000 to $60,000. Our modern, purpose-built facilities are staffed by a caring, friendly team. Our support staff are integral members of our team who help provide a high-class service so our residents feel at home and cared for.
Available Roles
Kitchen Assistants
- Assist with meal and dining room setup.
- Perform basic food preparation tasks for meals.
- Handle dishes and cleaning duties.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Ideally have previous kitchen and food handling experience OR enjoy being in a kitchen environment with the ability to train into this position.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Basic Food Safety Unit Standard 167.
Cleaners
- Assist with cleaning duties throughout the facilities, including common areas and residents’ rooms.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Laundry Assistants
- Work in our laundry facility assisting with the laundering of facility linens, residents’ clothing, and more.
- Ideally have experience in a commercial cleaning or laundry environment (aged care experience is a bonus).
- Full training will be given to suitable candidates.
What We’re Looking For
Regardless of your preferred role, above all, you will be:
- A team player with great communication and customer service skills.
- Able to manage your time efficiently.
- Have a high level of care and empathy towards our elderly residents.
- Previous experience in aged care, kitchen, cleaning, or laundry environments is beneficial but not essential—full training will be provided.

- Competitive annual salary of $30,000 to $60,000.
- Casual “as required” positions to fill roster gaps and cover staff leave.
