Maintenance Technician Required In Japan

KBR is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Army Watercraft Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) at Yokohama North Dock. In this role, you’ll be hands-on with Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) vessels, ensuring SLEP-equipped systems remain mission-ready and reliable. Program Summary

KBR’s Aviation and Ground Systems Directorate provides Systems Engineering and Integration support to Army Aviation and Ground soldiers through project-based and full-time personnel support services. The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Technician supporting the Army Watercraft SLEP Program, you’ll dive into the hands-on upkeep and sustainment of Service Life Extension Program equipment aboard LCU vessels stationed at Yokohama North Dock, Japan. You’ll be driving mission-critical readiness and reliability every day, working onsite alongside a dedicated and diverse team. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate equipment repairs for Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) equipment installed on Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) vessels.
  • Troubleshoot and repair vessel SLEP equipment, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Assist Army maintainers with maintenance activities on SLEP equipment, sharing your expertise and ensuring work is completed to standard.
  • Work closely with logistics teams to order parts and equipment needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Complete maintenance fault reports and track faults through to closeout, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-through.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all facets of integrated support for shipboard Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E), Electronics Systems, Combat Systems, and marine systems.
  • Apply your understanding of Army watercraft Standard items, General Specs for Overhaul of Surface Ships, and Army Ship Technical Manuals to daily tasks.

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering (an additional 8 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).
  • 2 to 4 years of related engineering experience or Army Watercraft experience.
  • At least 4 years of Ship Repair experience or Shipboard experience in Army or Naval service.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in all facets of integrated support for shipboard Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems (HM&E), Electronics Systems, Combat Systems, or marine systems.
  • Working knowledge of Army watercraft Standard items, General Specs for Overhaul of Surface Ships, and familiarity with Army Ship Technical Manuals.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States of America and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret various ship drawings for SLEP Systems, Electronics Systems, or Combat Systems.
  • Landing Craft Utility (LCU) experience as a Watercraft Maintenance Officer.
  • Understanding of Army maritime operations and vessel operations.
  • 8 years of ship repair experience.
  • Knowledgeable about Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) equipment.
  • Army watercraft maintenance officer or vessel chief experience.
