Key Responsibilities

Based at our Cambridge fabrication shop, you will be the technical authority ensuring welding excellence for a nation-building project. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing welding techniques and procedures, and advising on the application of equipment based on project specifications and material science.
  • Overseeing all welding operations during the preparation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Qualifications (WPQ/PQR), and ensuring site readiness.
  • Maintaining a constant shop-floor presence to monitor in-process welding, verify procedure adherence, and configure tooling correctly.
  • Leading troubleshooting activities for welding and tooling, and reporting any issues to supervision.
  • Managing welder qualification programs and providing training on procedures, processes, and equipment.
  • Interpreting complex drawings, codes (ASME, CWB, CSA), and standards, and ensuring strict process control.
  • Preparing technical specifications for weld consumables and staying current with emerging welding technologies.

Qualifications

You are an ideal candidate if you bring a combination of technical expertise and leadership:

  • A graduate of a Welding Technology Program or equivalent, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing/fabrication or a related industry.
  • Strong, practical knowledge of arc welding processes and equipment is essential.
  • Certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor is a significant asset.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section III and IX, CWB W47.1-2, CSA W59, or AWS D1.1-D1.6 codes is highly valued.
  • Experience with NDE methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT) and orbital welding tooling is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
